This filmed project represents how the dimensions of the devising process, as applied to musical theater cabaret, can translate across mediums. It is a result of an initial collection of songs from the musical theater canon, dramaturgical investigation of each piece, and a deep probing of music, text, and character. I used the devising process to guide each step of this project, prompting questions, experimentation, and impulse. The challenges of moving this project to film invited a recontextualization of my work and process, where I realized and put into practice the perpetual essence of the devising process.
